It was a nearly two year old Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine that we originally pulled out for FoBAB but I didn't like it. I guess a few months more in the barrel did it justice because it's simply delicious! We pulled out another 10 gallons and just put it on tap today (01/29/2010) while supplies last. It's going for $8.00 (inc. tax) for 10 ounces. We're going to enter this into the World Beer Cup as well and see what happens, stay tuned!

Double dry hopped Amber

Our latest batch of Aurora Amber was made almost entirely with Golden Promise Barley. Appetizers will be provided. Will will fill a 'great' pumpkin with our fresh Pumpkin Ale and hang the pumpkin from the ceiling. Customers will be able to serve themselves from one of the 7 dangling hoses coming out of the pumpkin. An 8th hose will be available for anyone who wants to do a pumpkin beer bong! The fun starts at 6pm each night and will last for 2 hours. Other beers will be available to taste but without the 'circus'.

Great American Beer Fest (GABF)

Just got back for the GABF and I'm sad to say I didn't bring back any hardware. I had entered a Cream ale (24 entries), Blueberry (104), Chocolate beer (85), a wet hopped Amber Ale (32), Double Bourbon Barrel Cherry Imperial Stout (45), Baltic Porter (16), and Scotch Ale (37). If there was public opinion, the Chocolate would of won hands down. I brought 1,982 samples of the Chocolate and of the Blueberry. Not even half way through the three day fest, the Chocolate ran out. The Blueberry beer was the second choice followed by the Dbl Bourbon Barrel. Now I just wait for the judging slips to be returned and we go from there. This Friday is the CF beerfest and then November 7th for the Festival of wood and barrel aged beer fest.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Beer Fest

On Friday October 2nd, We will be sampling our wares at the 3rd annual CF FestivAle. The season kicked off with Elgin Fest during father's day weekend. Since Prairie Rock Brewing Co went out of business, the owner still put on the festival, it was just that we were the only microbrewery there along side Budweiser. When Friday got rained out, Saturday made up for everything! We ran through 18 kegs in 5 hours. That's 9 drafts per minute!! We then brought our wears to Alefest at Soldier Field in early July. The Blueberry and Chocolate beers blew the crowds away. We smoked through both kegs, at 3 ounces a pour each! On to Madison for the second Saturday in August or better known as The Great Taste of the Midwest. Early rain didn't scare 6000 people to sample over 100 breweries finest brews. We brought our hop engine Aurora Amber, Chocolate, Blueberry, Rootbeer and Double Bourbon Barrel Cherry Imperial Stout. Due to popularity, we nearly exhausted everything. To close up summer, we did OakPark Fest in late August. As one brewer put it, "Um Mike, your line is 10 deep, what's going on here?". Well it's that darn Chocolate and Blueberry beer. Get the The Roundhouse before they both run out. One of them won't be back until next summer (not telling which one).
